A faster checkout layer for Ontario's age-restricted retail. Built to coexist with your existing ID checks, not replace them.

The 30-second pitch Customers register their ID with Mapleproof once. They show you a barcode. Your scanner shows their age tier, photo for visual comparison, and verification flags — in under 2 seconds. You still check the physical ID (Ontario law requires it), but the line moves faster.

How it works for cashiers

Customer pulls up their barcode on their phone or shows you a printed pass
Cashier scans the barcode using a tablet or phone running our scanner page (/retailer)
Within 1-2 seconds, the cashier sees:
- A big green/amber/red banner showing the verification status
- The customer's live photo and ID photo for visual comparison
- Their age tier (19+ or 25+) computed live
- Any warnings (recently registered, photo match weak, etc.)
Cashier still checks the physical ID as required by Ontario law, but with much more confidence

What Mapleproof does NOT do Mapleproof does not authorize sales of age-restricted products. Under Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 and the Cannabis Licence Act, 2018, you remain solely responsible for verifying a valid government-issued ID at every transaction. Mapleproof is a confidence layer that sits alongside your physical ID check. If you sell to a minor, you face up to $100,000 in monetary penalties and potential license suspension regardless of what our scanner showed.

What an AGCO inspection looks like with Mapleproof

You can show the inspector:

Your tamper-evident audit log of every scan with timestamps
Monthly compliance reports (CSV/PDF export — coming Q3 2026)
Documentation that staff are trained to physically inspect every ID
Your retailer agreement explicitly stating Mapleproof supplements but does not replace ID checks

Pricing

Free during the launch period. Per-store pricing in 2027 will start at $29-49/month per store with volume discounts for chains. Customer use remains free permanently.
